Maxamed Xasan ‘Alto’ is a writer and journalist. He has edited many books in Somali, and has translated major works of Russian and English literature into Somali. He is co-translator with Clare Pollard and Said Jama Hussein of Asha Lul Mohamud Yusuf's The Sea Migrations (Somali title: Tahriib), published by Bloodaxe Books with The Poetry Translation Centre in 2017.
