Cheryl Follon was born and raised in Ayrshire and studied Law and German at Glasgow University before taking an MPhil in Creative Writing at Trinity College Dublin. She has spent the past ten years teaching in Glasgow working with mature students, learners returning to education after a long time away, and BA (Hons) dissertation students among many other groups. She is also an inveterate traveller, seeking out new places as well revisiting old favourites. She has published three collections with Bloodaxe: All Your Talk (2004), Dirty Looks (2010) and Santiago (2017). She was runner-up in The Spectator‘s Shiva Naipaul Memorial Prize for travel writing in 2012.
